>>5949504>“There’s no need. I’m just glad it’s over. Please, tell me what happened at Shambhala? And…here as well. Just what are those White Beasts?”“Shambhala.” Byleth nods. “It was like nothing I’d ever seen before. Imagination can scarcely do it justice. An entire civilization living right underneath our feet. Hubert’s notes pointed us right towards the location of the Agarthan Capital, and when we arrived, the Sages were already waiting for us. Pittacus, Bias, Myson…and Thales, their leader.” Byleth says the last name with some noticeable contempt. “Four Sages in total. We slew them all. Most of their subordinates shared their fate, refusing to surrender. Only a handful of Agarthans remain alive. We’ve kept them imprisoned inside Shambhala, under the watchful eye of Hanneman and a small band of knights. Even now, Hanneman studies the inner workings of the city, hoping to bring back some strange technology that can be of use.”
>“Four Sages. On our side, we slew Diogenes, Odesse, and Cleobulus. Seven in total. So, we really did get all of them.”“You said you slew two Sages at Zanado, though?” Byleth asks with confusion. “Who was the other?”
>“Anacharsis. A former Sage…and the man who had been masquerading as Count Charles d’Rusalka for the last thirty years.”“I see…my condolences, Blair. That must have been hard.”
>“Thank you, Professor.” You say earnestly. Byleth seems to truly empathize with your plight. “As for what happened here…?”“A final ploy by Thales. With his dying breath, he placed some sort of curse on select individuals. Individuals that had been extremely close with Archbishop Rhea. They transformed into those Demonic Beasts you saw outside, catching the monastery by surprise. If we hadn’t been here to stop them, I fear Garreg Mach would have been lost. And even then, it was only…thanks to the Archbishop’s sacrifice that we’re still standing here today.” Byleth says mournfully. You weren’t exactly sure what her relationship with Archbishop Rhea had been, but you could plainly see that she was suffering.
>“I’d heard there was also a dragon…”“There was. Thankfully, we were able to take care of it.” Byleth nods.
She does not elaborate, or go into further detail, as if seeing a dragon were but a normal occurrence. With her sudden sense of brevity, you’re reminded of the Professor that you knew. The one who was short with her words and could often seem unattached. While you got the impression she might have been hiding something, there was no sense in chasing it. You were standing before the most powerful woman in all Fodlan. Granted a private audience with the person all three nations would look towards for guidance. You knew your place and would not press the matter further.
