TalOS did not haft to think long as he swore, “If what you state is true, then I shall withdraw myself from the Rangdan War.”
The Emperor gave a solemn nod of understanding as he looked in another direction, “Malcador was correct in that you are willing and have yet to breach our trust in you. That is good TalOS, for it is this trust which bears the weight of all mankind.”
“It is my honor to bear such immense weight, for I have many others to whom bear it with me.” TalOS told the Emperor as he grew a loving smile, “I am not alone.”
“Her name is UZ1, correct?” The Emperor said as he spoke the name of TalOS’s anchor.
“Why do you know her name?” There was a small welt building within the chest of TalOS. In an instant he recognized what was embarrassment welling within his heart. Just like the many tales of old where parents tease their children’s love, TalOS felt his heart being wrenched.
The Emperor gave a knowing smile as if he knew everything within the Universe, “Your Uncle thought it was a good name to know.”
“I… should have easily assumed that.” TalOS admitted as his emotions was reeling from sudden excitement.
The Emperor’s eyes became somewhat joyful, with what TalOS realized was thousands of years worth of life melting away to show a more youthful appearance. What happened to TalOS was indeed a tease and it was a jest played by a Father to his son. A jest that the Emperor found to be an enjoyer of.
It was then that the years returned. The eyes of the Emperor seemingly growing colder as each century went by his vision. TalOS could feel it, those times of defamation, of terror, of apocalypse. TalOS understood the Emperor as a living Ancient whose existence was all of mankind’s history sewn into one person.
In an instant TalOS realized the Emperor likely was not a man built for immortality. What issues may arise from those who were not Gods, who did not define their existence by simply existing. Of struggles he endured just by being what he is.
“I will give you leave now TalOS.” The Emperor said as he glanced upon his son with calm eyes, “Stay to our agreement, and you shall have the reward you have unknowingly been seeking.”
“Thank you, Father.” TalOS said as he left the room.
