The neutralizing agents seems to be doing a number on the Mold Bodyguards. They are aimlessly wandering through the cell now, not bothering to protect Seath now.
Seath is also acting a lot different now. The breathy tone of his voice is gone and the forced smile he had on his face has also vanished. He holds a hand over the rotten remains of his left eye socket. "What...? I feel weird. Where's her voice."
[DELUSIONAL] You notice Benjamin's posture is all sorts of wound up and tense. He really wants to say something that you're sure he's about to regret. <<span class="mu-b">"To imagine this piece of shit was a Head Researcher. If Nicky or Maxy can't get FIX HIS ACT I'll FIX HIM MYSELF."</span>>
The haze shouldn't be affecting him since the gas grenades are somehow suppressing it. That glimpse in his mind is a bit worrying.
The heart itself is still trying to pump out a steady stream of spores but the gas is preventing them from lingering for longer than a few seconds.
Max decides it's probably a good idea to start talking. She gestures at Casey to step up with her. "Look, I get families can suck. I'm part of one and every single day I find it a little bit harder to relate to them. They suck. I get that."
"But at least they are your family. This isn't family this is...this is delusion."
"It isn't!" Seath snaps out of his daze to bark back at Max. "This is better. This is better than being with a group of strangers I have to pretend to care about."
"So an anomaly is your family now? An anomaly who is rotting you from the inside out?"
Seath tries to say something in response but Max cuts him off, "Do you even know its name? Does it know yours? I'm pretty sure you're just protecting."
"OF course it knows my name! We are one in the same! It is me, I am it! I...I..."
Casey decides to chime in now, "I understand wanting a place where everyone knows your name and they're glad you came. I truly do. This isn't going to bring you any satisfaction. This anomaly will treat you as an asset to liquidate."
"At least with the corporate families, they pretend to smile. All customers want to see bright, happy smiles. Smiles are good. Do you see any smiles? Do you hear any happy voices?"
Seath stumbles over to a nearby wall in an attempt to stay stable but it's clear what he's hearing is starting to break whatever conditioning implanted in him. Not fully but he's starting to heal at least.
Your other allies chime in, all seemingly to pick up on the heart hurting itself when 'family' was mentioned.:
"I wish I had a family." Kiara sighs, wistfully imagining a world where she wasn't just a mass produced android. "Throwing that away for an anomaly who's killing you? I don't understand humans sometimes..."
Benjamin suppresses his oddly angry inner thoughts when it's his turn to speak up. "I haven't talked to my mom or dad in a while. Never had the time these days. What I would do to meet them again, you know?"
Clover grimaces for a moment. "...Family?"
