Skitarii Marshal AD980 continued to fire his radium pistol into the robots that were slowly making their way towards them. The limbering creatures were so much slower than the Skitarii but they just kept on marching forward.
Circumstances had become grim as there was no longer enough Acillians to help defend the soft underbelly of Skitarii. He had not seen so many of his brothers and sisters fall at this location but this day had been so much that he could barely understand it.
What he did know, in some capacity, was that he was waging a war.
The Skitarii, now being attacked by the metal horde, needed to change their tactics. He quickly started barking orders through the Noosphere and had the Vanguard begin a frontal advance against the Xenos ‘Warrior’ Forms with the rate they were all practiced with.
They were cut down like dogs. These Xenos called Necrons having weapons that seemed to consider the armor that Skitarii were wearing to be nothing but flesh. A few were able to continue their march though as the Bionics of their bodies kicked in and forced the soldiery forward into the advancing horde of Xenos. With another mental command the Skitarii Marshal ordered his men to charge the front lines of the Warriors.
His men did not argue nor complain as he threw their lives away to buy that little bit more time. At the center of the entire battle was their Fabricator General and what he had called the Machine God. The Marshal somehow knew those words to be real, and for it he was terrified. But he had a job to do so the terror he experienced was locked away in its own cerebral vault.
His Vanguard slammed themselves into the onslaught of Warriors and tried their damndest to keep a melee going. The machines they fought were in some way still susceptible to the radiation of the Vanguard, but would it be enough?
It was then that he noticed something in the melee. He looked to see that the Fabricator General had been stabbed by the Machine God through the center where his brain would be. He felt another layer of horror crawling in through his animalistic brain to pay witness to such a strike.
The Machine God had killed the Fabricator General. He had killed what many among the Legio considered to be the Omnissiah incarnate.
