Without warning, your body began to heat up! But instead of the usual choking heat that threatened to overwhelm you, you…didn’t actually feel that hot!
Sure, there was smoke and pale green flame rising from your skin, burning through your restraints and scaring the pants off of the nearby scientists, but you yourself felt perfectly fine. Fire was supposed to feel hot, right? That was sort of a universal constant.
Instead, you felt a swell of crackling energy welling up from within you. It was as if lightning were running through your veins, causing your entire body to kick into overdrive!
You stared dumbly down at your hands, now entirely wreathed in flames, along with the rest of your body.
“How do you feel?”
You glanced over at Gloria, the only one in the room willing to get close to you in your current state. Her face was lit up by the boatloads of ambient light that you were currently radiating. Her excited grin was highlighted for all to see.
“Well…for starters, I can actually breathe now. What’s up with that, anyway?”
“You’re breathing through your mouth out of habit, but in reality, you’re actually breathing through your skin. That skin tight material you lip to traipse around in is actually doing you a favor, here. It only happens when the Horton Cells are activated, so don’t worry about when you’re not covered in a sheathe of superheated plasma.”
“Huh. Wicked…”
You waved your hand back and forth in front of you, leaving hazy green fire trails with each pass.
“The downside is that your metabolism has been ramped up to an insane degree to compensate for the rate at which your newly energized cells are consuming oxygen. In this form, you’re a walking fireball that burns at 780 degrees Fahrenheit when you’re not paying attention, and you need to quite literally feed those flames if you want to keep them burning.”
You could hear everything that she was saying, but it was getting really hard to focus on her words. You could feel every heat source in the room right now. The computers, the lights, the people…and Gloria! Her core temp was way too damn high!
“Are you listening?”
What will you do?
>Lob a fireball at the bags filled with spider-blood that they took from you.
>Leap into the air and try to fly!
>Try to spell your name using fire constructs.
>Extinguish only your right hand and extend it for Gloria to shake.
>”Hit me with your best shot! I want to see if I’m fireproof!”
>”I’m sorry to tell you this, but you’re only the second hottest thing in this room right now. And considering the circumstances, that’s pretty damn hot! You might want to tone it down a bit if you don’t want to blow your cover.”
>”Can you help me work on my control? You’ve probably got way more experience with this sort of thing than I do.”
>Write-in.
