A cool enough place that you wouldn't mind going even just on your own sometime, and in a way it kind of feels like you're on your lonesome anyway. Currently your group has found its way to some open-air brick plaza between old mill buildings, where there's a competitive jeopardy effort among groups of people in the outdoor portion of one of the bars here. Of course as usual you made the mistake of trying to take things seriously and actually play the game, before eventually realizing that everyone is rather just treating it as a backdrop to socialize instead.
Really your only company is Travis, who tries to make time for you besides the others, and Chris who also isn't drinking.
<span class="mu-g">"Well we're winning at least, even if it doesn't matter."</span>
<span class="mu-b">"Of course we'd be scoring high on superhero-related stuff, but that's all everyone's been talking about."</span>
<span class="mu-g">"I'm surprised it's not... I dunno, like bigger? Around here? Seven days ago the vault of that building over there was robbed, and here everyone is..."</span> he nods to the First American skyscraper, visible among the downtown skyline in the not-too-far distance.
It's been some time since you talked with Chris let alone spent time together, but you're glad to have brought him here even if neither of you are suited for it, at least you can keep each other company while everyone else socializes. Always having had pretty similar interests, you're at least more comfortable even in a social setting like this, for having someone you can relate to.
>Small steps. That's what you can manage, and you're out and about with people which never would have happened before. Just try to enjoy the evening.
>As much as Kelly is the center of attention, as you friend you know she'd make time for you... maybe she'd even share the spotlight?
>You're content to catch up with Chris, talk and see how things are going on his end. How's college going for him? Computer Science can't be easy.
>Maybe you could try stepping outside your comfort zone, and engage with Travis. He's your best bet for making an actual new friend, even if he wants to be more than just friends.
>Talk about a vibe check... what if a certain stretchy supervillain made an appearance, some petty crime around here? That would definitely make things more memorable, regarding the proverbial water cooler amongst your co-workers.
>A ruinous write-in?
