The three fully formed bodyguards and the one stunted guard realize something's amiss but it's too late now.
Benjamin launches a torrent of smoldering ash towards the oil-soaked anomaly and in the process, he loses his wings.
Max quickly catches him before he can slam face first into the ground right at the same time as the ash hits the anomaly.
The oil ignites the microsecond the ash touches it. The darkness that once filled this room is pushed out by the dull, cherry red flame that has now engulfed the mossy heart. You almost thought you won right then and there but...it's burning REALLY slowly. It's barely able to outburn the anomaly's inherent regenerative ability. Shit.
A low gurgling is barely audible over the roaring fire. With the speed and efficiency of a well-tuned factory machine, it rapidly begins to spit out an endless stream of Mold Bodyguards and Dogs in an attempt to protect itself. This backfires thanks to, well, the literal fire setting them ablaze the moment they get spat out of the heart.
The fire doesn't immediately kill them. In only 15 or 20 seconds, a small army's worth of Mold Bodyguards and Dogs have been spat out of the anomaly. The spores still being produced by the anomaly ignite on fire with each desperate wheeze the anomaly tries to take.
"I THINK IT'S TIME TO LEAVE MOVE IT MOVE IT MOVE IT!" You screech at the top of your lungs. Even if the guards don't rip you to shreds, the heat of the massive roaring fire trapped in such a cramped space would be enough to finish the job.
The three original bodyguards are prone on the floor thanks to your allies attacking them as a distraction so there's nothing stopping you from grabbing Seath and GETTING THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!
Clover forcefully grabs Seath's moss arm and begins to drag him out of the containment cell. The rest of your party makes a break for the stairs.
A thunderous cacophony of footsteps trails mere inches away from your group. The mold minions are desperate to grab onto you in one last desperate act to rip you to shreds. Seath is the slowest of the group given his injuries but your group is just fast enough to not be grabbed by the horde.
The old spiral staircase is a pain in the ass to climb up when you're in a rush...and you think it's about to break at any moment. The weight of dozens on dozens of people and minions is threatening to send the whole staircase crashing to the floor.
A smoldering vine launches out at you! You try to dodge but it's too cramped in here to really do so successfully. It latches around your leg and FUCK IT BURNS OH GOD FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK-
"You are not allowed to liquidate my boss!" Casey stops for a brief moment to equip her MBF Model 129 firearm (which you suspect is somehow alive. and also part dog?) and unloads it at the vine holding you down! Hunks of shattered teeth are spat out of the gun's barrel! They're sharp enough to weaken the vine!
You're able to free yourself with one solid tug on your leg!
