The storm has come. We are still alive. Somehow, we are still alive. Praise be to this Cantônian God.

The storm has passed and left us none the worse for wear. Even the two pilgrims that the female priest had feared for are now well recovered, showing little sign. That our lovely ship has suffered no noteworthy damage in the wake of that furious storm is miraculous <span class="mu-i">(Note: This word has a single line through it)</span> fortunate. Very fortunate.
I had feared pirates or some ambush in these waters once leaving our cove of safety, but after a day on open water I am forced to consider that any brigand vessel that did mean us harm has been driven away by the storm or were themselves sunk before in its wake.

The male priest Father Towbray is leading daily sermons with the pilgrims abovedeck. Once this would have annoyed myself and the crew. Now, given the events during the storm… Not a few of my crew are joining in. I’ll not begrudge anything of the sort when we continue to be blessed with these fair winds.

These are busy waters and we have not seen a sail for the past three days. Either pirates have found themselves easier prey or the storm really has scoured the Strait and southern coastline clean. In fact, aside from a few fishermen, we’ve seen virtually nothing by way of human life.
