“...Maybe you’re right Mink… A few winks wouldn’t hurt.” You mumble, fatigue creeping up upon you once more, the culmination of several nights of poor sleep and now a night of none, “Is there a room around here I can use?”
“Just over there, Master Felix.” She points with a gloved finger toward a door already in sight within this hall - The palace is filled with unused rooms, all decorated so lavishly that their adornments could like fund the raising of an entire battalion of infantry, complete with armored vehicles and supplier, “Allow me to show you… again, I think - I did show you this one, didn’t I?”
“It’s been a long time since the tour, Mink…” You shake your head, following as Mink guides you gently toward the door, gloved hands held politely before her stark white half-apron, “It’s a nice room?”
“Mhm.” She hums happily while opening the door for you, revealing a… surprisingly plain guest room, at least by the standards of the palace, only a few modest paintings on the walls and little silver or gold in sight, everything quite subdued and warm, earthy tones and rich wood.
“...Definitely haven’t seen this one. The bedroom is in there?”
“Yes.” Mink's voice is sweet and resonant, very soothing, all the uncertainty which filled her moments ago nowhere to be seen or heard. The next heavy door reveals the bed chamber, another simple affair. A comfy canopy bed is at the very center, and it looks likely to have never been used before. Mink moves alongside the bed, pulling back the fresh sheets and fluffing the soft feather pillows. You slip your shoes off and slide in under the covers, all of your remaining strength away into this silken paradise, every stress and worry you’ve ever felt fading… sinking into simple bliss… it’s like a cloud…
You blink, looking up to Mink, violet eyes looks back upon you, a simple kindness about her as she tucks you in - It’s unnecessary, even making you feel a little like a child, but… that’s not so bad right now, not when you’re so tired you can hardly think… Your eyes shut closed, too heavy by far, and the comforting dark of space fills your mind, easing everything away in a field of imagined stars, a place for dreams… A hand brushes back your hair. She’s so gentle… Everything fades further to twinkling black…
...Mother?
