>>5984278>>5966833>ASSASSIN PROSTITUTE, sex and death, universal archetype>antagonistic pleiotropy, mortality / fecundity tradeoffI waa thinking about this important universal archetype the ASSASSIN PROSTITUTE, why it possesses such emotional power, so naturally I thought of evolutionary biology. Eg if you think about it, a VAMPIRE SLAYER is actually just a substitution of ASSASSIN PROSTITUTE as vampire (lust, desire, seduction) etc and slayer is self-explanatory. Similarly all those 18th century Death And The Maiden Romanticism paintings or Schubert string quartets lol, Freudian Death Instinct, etc
So the Antagonistic Pleiotropy Hypothesis basically explains how evolutionary selection pressure varies over lifetime, varies with organism age. If a single gene can confer both beneficial and detrimental effects (phenotype traits) there then arises a tradeoff between mortality and fecundity / reproductive fitness. A crude example might be say a peacock that grows massive tail feathers to attract a mate, but which then makes it slow, ungainly and conspicuous, succumbing to predators etc.
So there is some trade-off in the allocation of scarce resources between survival and reproduction, sex and death.
Antagonistic pleiotropy is often said to explain the evolutionary purpose of ageing (most organisms more fertile when younger) because pleiotropy results in the same gene expressing traits which might aid reproduction whilst younger but harming survivability when older. So moving beyond genes and phenotype expression could this sex-death / reproduction vs survival tradeoff arise in other domains mathematically governed by evolutionary selection mechanisms?
What makes you desirable / attractive when young eventually kills you / worsens survivability when older? Does a mechanism analogous to antagonistic pleiotropy exist at the level of individual behaviour, agglomerations or aggregations of individuals and organisations, institutions, markets, societies and cultures; the sex-death trade-off and fitness for survival in the lifespan of civilisations?
>be incel>I am maximising survivability according to the evolutionary tradeoff mechanism as stated by the Anagonistic Pleiotropy Hypothesis
