>>6117192"...what are you trying to do?" The parasite asks, her voice as calm as ever. "I don't know you. I didn't do anything to offend you, is berrating me the only way you can give meaning to your miserable life? Anything you can say I've already heard a thousand times, don't bother."
Shit, it's not working, she's a lot more thick-skinned than you expected. How is Table supposed to get on her nerves? How much meaner does she need to get?
"I know about your plan, you know?" Table says, breaking your agreement to NOT tell her. "I'm going to tell the teachers, and you'll be punished accordingly. How sad, I'm sure you were so close to getting your own body, but you really don't deserve one."
Silence. You can feel the astonishment of the parasite even from here. She can't scream or shout because she knows it'll wake up Rin, from her point of view this must be terrifying. You hear steps from Table's position, she's approaching her slowly with what you assume is a very smug expression.
Then, you hear an explosion- a fire flare? That's absolutely a fire flare. You open the door in a panic, but Table is already running away, and Rin has woken up from the loud sound and pain. She's looking around confused as to how she ended up here. You tell her you accidentally messed up a spell you were practicing in the hallway. It's a stupid lie, but if you tell her she got assaulted by some random person it might lead her to look further into it which is not what you want. Rin wasn't that hurt by the spell since the parasite didn't aim it at herself, so she's not that angry about it, just annoyed.
Rin walks back to her dorm to fix up her clothes, and you take your leave to check up on Table. She did manage to get crystallized hatred out of her, but taking that fire flare point blank really hurt, since she didn't have any protective spell or enchantment on her. It's nothing too bad, but Table is convinced that if she didn't run when she did, she might have been knocked out or killed.
You'd call these measures extremes, but you can understand why the parasite reacted as strongly as she did, disposing of the only witness was the only think she could think of at the moment. Table says she doesn't hold any animosity towards her either, but that she'll steer clear of her just in case, because even with her curse, the parasite has a very good reason to remember her.
