There were a lot of strong or handy mutants that you rescued. <span class="mu-i"><span class="mu-s">“Everything but the extra screws, bolts, and some extra lumber is basically free, so John’s credit card is gonna take a nice trip to the Domicile Depot…”</span></span>
“Don’t spend a fortune…” You chide, as you’d rather not get caught.
<span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-i">“Hey, are you talking to fish?”</span></span> Bernard’s voice interrupts your call. <span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-i">“Tell her I said hi!”</span></span>
<span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-i">“Yep,”</span></span> Matt answers the other male. <span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-i">“Bernard says ‘hi.’ She can hear everything, you know…”</span></span>
<span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-i">“Oh, you’re right!”</span></span> Bernard is reminded of your enhanced senses, and his goofiness makes you grin. <span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-i">“Hi Ellie!”</span></span>
“Hey B–” You call out, forgetting that you’re not on speaker-phone.
<span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-i">“She says ‘hi’ too.”</span></span> Matt deadpans. <span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-i">“We’ll be back soon, probably tomorrow or the day after depending on how things go.”</span></span>
“I thought you had everything taken care of,” You object, wondering what else Matt needs to possibly stick around for.
<span class="mu-s"><span class="mu-i">“I-um… I do…”</span></span> Matt’s tone is oddly, oddly shifty.
