Two spirits, no doubt belonging to the dead bodies in the chamber, rise up from the corpses in all their ghastly radiance. They emit their own light, and appear as they had when they died- with all the trauma of their deaths. They have no physical forms; only these apparitions. Your weapons are useless against them. These spirits don't seem especially wrathful, but angering any spirit is not good. You could end up cursed, or worse.

While nobody in the party was an expert on spirits or exorcisms; everybody knew the basics. When people died traumatically, and when their bodies were not properly buried, their spirits can become trapped in the mortal realm and become ghosts- haunting the place where they died or sometimes the item most involved in their life or death. These spirits seem to be feuding over the gold- it could be the gold itself is haunted, or maybe just this part of the mines...
