A thin ribbon of gray smoke rises up in the air. You almost missed it, as the rain is so heavy that it dissipates most of it.
So the ruins are occupied. Good thing you decided to take a break before heading up into them. But the rain still pours; there's no sign it will relent any time soon. You need shelter unless you fancy hypothermia or not sleeping at all at night.
There are gigantic rents in the walls, clearly the result of a siege bringing them down in some long ago battle. You scrutinize one of them, far away from the shattered front gates, carefully to see if any oddities catch your eye.
It seemed safe enough to enter through there, but now you are on high alert. The place is occupied by who knows what, and they might not be friendly.
Decisions, decisions, decision....
>Go boldly to the front gate and pass through it anyways while alert to an attack from above...>Go boldly to the front gate and announce yourself to the thing in the shattered gates...>Sneak through the rent in the walls instead, no need to announce yourself...>Try to camp outside the ruins, you have a small tarp that might help keep the rain out...>Attack the thing in the gate with your powers, surely you can summon your spear...>Cause a distraction! Create a big boulder of ice near the gate to attract their attention, they might come out...>Wait longer and observe, maybe something will come in or out?...>Write in....
