>>6327404Thank you very much for the feedback, and also your recommendation of Margaritifer Terra as the Mars landing site, at first I wasn't too convinced but after researching it and learning about the equatorial landing zone it made a lot of sense!
This game went through a lot of iterations when I was imagining it, I think I mentioned on the qtg, originally I was going to do a sword-and-planet thing on Mars, it was basically because I saw the Mars map had a region called Cimmeria lol, so I wanted to do some acid fantasy pterosaur flying scimitar volcano chasm sorcerors lol.
It was hard finding good art for that theme so I tried hard sci-fi with an inner solar system delta-v map, but I wasn't confident I knew enough physics and orbital mechanics to make it believable. So in the end I simplified it down to just the two stat funding and institutions and I wanted to discuss a lot of SPACE POLICY, ie inject "real"-world institutional and policy limitations into the space setting alongside extant space technology, I feel sci-fi has moved too far away from what space actually is and the sci-fantasy trend has become too generic and predictable whereas actual space now feels more fantastical
Originally in the hard sci-fi setting, provisionally entitled FARHAULER Cislunar Space (my game folder is still named this lol) I was going to link it to my previous COSMOGONY space opera game, where the main background setting antagonist was this space hypercorporation governed by algorithms with a weird computational dream currency called The Isonomy, that was what this section
>>6320842 was slightly leading towards but I had a bit of conflict because I wanted to keep it realistic and not launch into full sci-fi
The weird catechism here
>>6320257 which is of course my imagined inverted homage to Isaac Asimov Three Laws Of Robotics but also intertwined with a bit of Kierkegaard Teleological Suspension Of The Ethical (Abraham/Isaac sacrifice thing) is sort of how I imagined that technological algorithmic governance society might mythologically "train" humanity etc
Also in my COSMOGONY setting, there was an unused random faction called the Unheeders, renegades within the Isonomy (players never met them on the random table) but my mental framework for that faction was literally "if Lockheed made a nuclear rocket..." lol, I imagined them as robotic accelerationists etc. This was in my mind in the background but in the end I dithered a bit and decided not to launch into full sci-fi, this entire game for me was some weird fictional edging lol lol I kept wanting to unleash the full blown SPACE FUTURE and then denying myself it was a very strange and perverted feeling lol
