You swear that the music playing in here is going to drive you crazy. Best to get as much information you can out of the receptionist.
You tap on Ben's shoulder and whisper to him what you hear about The Crook. THAT gets his attention real fast. He gets the hint real quick on why you told him that.
Benjamin leans against the reception booth's counter. He winks at the receptionist while spouting the goofiest smirk possible. "Hey! So sorry for bothering you. I'm here with my girlfriend because we're here to observe some anomalies." His voice is uncomfortably smooth; He clearly spent a while practicing on it.
"Oh...girlfriend?" The receptionist is clearly disappointed at the 'girlfriend' part. The smug, self-satisfied look Max is giving her speaks for itself. "Wait, anomaly chasing? I probably wouldn't do that right now if I was you. There's been a lot more wandering around recently."
"Huh?" Benjamin pretends to be shocked at this news. "Really? How come? Did another budget cut hit the facilities or something?"
"Oh, no, no!" The receptionists whisper yells with panic oozing from her voice. She glances behind her chair to see if anyone heard what Benjamin said. "No, no, the budget is good! It's more that...there's been a massive surge of anomalies wandering around the streets. I don't know much but some say <span class="mu-b">they're being imported from somewhere.</span>"
"Wait." Kiara picks up on her odd phrasing. "Imported? They're not naturally manifesting?"
"Yeah. There's been a lot of trucks moving in and out of here: All of them under some new brand: "PARANATURAL EXTERMINATION PROFESSIONALS"." No one in the group has ever heard of that group before. "Apparently they go around facilities and offer them to take away any excess anomalies they have."
"There's been rumors that any facility that accepts ends up abandoned only a week or so later. There's no proof that PEP is involved in it but..." The receptionist shrugs.
"Do you have a description of their trucks?" Kiara has a notepad in hand, ready to note down anything the receptionist describes.
"Well, they're large. Bulky. About the size and length of a G-Corp Semitrailer. Dull brown paintjobs all over except for a gold star on the each side. I think they also have UV lamps hanging on the backend of it too."
Kiara quickly scribbles this down. "Interesting! We'll tell you how that investigation ends up later." You probably won't but it sounds professional!
"Woo. Yeah, the amount of weird shady groups moving around these days is really weird."
[PERSON OF INTEREST] "Is that so?" You push Benjamin to the side so you can stare down the poor ol' receptionist. "You said something about a shady group that pays a LOT. Tell me about them."
"I-is her gaze always that intense?" The receptionist turns to Casey, who's standing behind you.
"Indeed! I think it's one of her marketable features alongside her antlers!"
"O-oh. Yeah. Why does she even have those? Is she a furry?"
