The holy women from the Cantôn pilgrim contingent held a special service to mark a day of significance for one of their many saints. It remains unclear whether this was the day of one of their supposed miracles or the saint’s martyrdom. A few of the crew observed and made some obeisance, which was not begrudged of them. Sailors take comfort in their own small superstitions as they see fit, I see no reason why this cannot include the big ones.

A flock of seagulls passed us by, a sign that the coastline cannot be too far away. That or my instruments have severely misled us and we have strayed far south and near to one of the few rocky isles out in the Westfold proper. But I am inclined to doubt this given that another sail was briefly sighted well ahead of us and moving in the same direction. Benicio, the lookout on duty, was granted an extra ration of rum for his keen eyes.

Land spotted by the lookout this afternoon, we will make the Cantôn coastline by this evening. The weather continues to hold.
