There was a moment where TalOS needed to weigh out the chances within his own mind. It was an emotional statement which will set the policy of what both TalOS and the Mechanicum think in relation to a fallen brother.
In the end it was rationality which ruled the Mechanicum, “I believe that our Brother is lost to us. Whatever creature lurks upon the rim of the galaxy will simply kill Ferrus if we ever attempt to rescue him. If we hold back and create fortresses to create a force multiplier we will receive the assault at a good standing.”
“You want us to leave our brother to mutate and die!?” Fulgrim finally spoke as his emotions came to the fore, “Even if he is lost it does not mean we can’t recover his body!”
“If we do that we will fall into the same trap that our brother fell for.” TalOS fired back with a fury burnt into his chest, “Do we want to lose any other brothers?”
“TalOS, you think we cannot fight a good fight against this foe?” Leman Russ barked as he gave a wolfish smile, “I understand what you are saying but should we ignore this we will tarnish the memory of Ferrus!”
“That is not practical.” Roboute Guilliman said as he put his two sense in, “If it is as TalOS said then the Rangdan will seek to destroy the entire Galaxy with a single push. If we extend ourselves and fail, we will lose everything.”
“Will this tactic not tarnish the reputation of our Father and this Crusade?” Lorgar placed forward as his calm eyes searched the room, “That we are to stay back and let the enemy come to us?”
“It does not matter what the people think, just that we can do it.” Perturabo gawked as he leaned forward, “We will break them on our walls.”
“I agree with Perturabo.” Rogal Dorn announced without worry, “At this moment he speaks reason. They will come, we will break them, and then we will end them.”
None seemed willing to speak their mind after that, for things were becoming obvious on where the lines were being drawn.
The Emperor knew it too, “Then I ask for those who are wishing to build fortifications raise their hands, then those who wish to strike at the foe.”
In the end the majority went for the building of fortifications. There were some who abstained from voting, those being Magnus, Horus, Lion, and lastly Vulkan.
