The way the Legion’s entry proper here played out might have implied to future historians that there was never any reason to be concerned, but Schwarzehand hadn’t expected the Fealinnese assault, coming in piecemeal and carelessly after bowling over the Trelani before, to be so utterly vanquished by his own troops. Running into a wall of lead before being smashed by artillery and support weapons, the enemy’s bull rush may as well have run into the side of a battleship. They were sent into a chaotic retreat in short order- and the initiative lay open, at least on the eastern side.
The rest of the field was not so fortunate. Runners breathlessly arrived from other portions of the defensive line with grave tidings. The 21st Battalion’s Second Company had been pushed off the hill they had defended solidly thus far, though their enemy wasn’t strong enough to completely rout them yet. Still a turn for the worse, especially as the 3rd Company of your allies holding up the center had been shattered by a follow up assault backed with artillery support.
The Legion’s 1st Company was chasing the enemy north, already beginning their counterattack, carried forward by their momentum. For all the effort that had gone towards stabilizing the defense to the east, however, the rest of the line seemed ready to crumble…and what survivors there were rallied to the rear lines with Schwarzehand.
Should 1st Company be recalled, Schwarzehand thought. They had the upper hand, and would very likely keep it, but would it matter if the rest of the line collapsed? There was nothing else to stop the enemy’s attack if they broke through now- the Aurora Legion had been the quick reaction force available. Anybody else would be long in coming…
>Let 1st Company keep going and finish off the east, while sending 3rd Company to defend the now vulnerable center line. You’d just have to trust the company on the hill to not fail.
>Take a chance and pivot both companies to attack the center intrusion to try and destroy it. Afterwards, both companies would be in position to react to what was left of the Fealinnese Attack.
>Pull back the 1st Company to form a defense in the center, and send the 3rd Company to reinforce the Hill. You were here to hold the line, and the only way to do that now would be to fight the enemy where they still attacked.
