You drive your little RC car forward- and decide to stay quiet. While testing how far in the tunnel it's really gone, you're sure it could hear you with a loud enough yell- but it's better to stay quiet. To be honest? The tunnel still scares you, and you've never made any noise or slept in the same room or done anything to attract "attention" from the tunnel- or maybe if something is in it. While the idea of making the video more engaging and exciting comes to mind- you'd like to be a bit more scientific. Besides, what if you accidentally shout over a noise in the tunnel? It's been quiet so far, but what if there is a noise deeper inside? Something quiet, like distant machines... or breathing.
The RC car approaches the area inside the tunnel that doesn't appear to have a floor, or walls, like the hallway just ends. You drive it forward at the absolute limit of its controller range, knowing full well there is no way to get the car back without going into the tunnel yourself, simply out of curiosity. As it pushes forward into the void, you find the absolute darkness absorbed by the camera to be off putting. The darkness is so thick that there are no walls or ceiling or anything to be illuminated by its light even at full blast- indicating that the car has entered a true void. Even moreso, you don't hear or see it falling or moving quickly- if it had fallen into a great pit, you feel that the clacking of plastic would have shown that, even without a visual benchmark to show its movement. But as it goes on, you watch the video feed closely. This is where things get interesting...
For about a minute, the RC car floats through this void. You expectantly watch the tunnel, almost as though you are expecting a reaction, before suddenly and without warning, the video cuts and shows a ceiling, floor, and walls again- like the RC car is right back in the tunnel. And looking very closely at the camera feed, you see a very small light at the end of the tunnel. Wow!
Your little rover is somehow still within range- but only barely. It takes a few tries to get it to move, but once you hold down the forward peddle it starts to go. Slowly, it inches down the hallway towards the light- perfectly centered you might add. Is it about to end up on the other side?
