“No offense, but you guys did better than I thought you would. I may have screwed you over when I picked the teams, though.” you admitted.
“Yeah, no kidding…” Scorpia muttered under her breath, not quite glaring at Speed Demon. The speedster was already in a foul mood, apparently not happy with the results of your skirmish.
“That said, you guys still have plenty to work on. Bottom line, you gotta learn to look out for each other. That lone wolf shit is liable to get us killed out on the job.” you continued, pretending not to notice Scorpia’s griping.
“Hydro-Man, I’m not gonna take this as an example of your true potential, since you didn’t have a reliable source of water nearby. That being said, I think you should figure out what you’re going to do when you’ve only got a limited supply available.”
HM nodded, looking a bit smaller than he did before the match began. Somehow, Boomer had managed to evaporate enough of him that he was unable to recollect himself before Cyclone scattered the rest of his collective mass to pieces. According to him, he was able to recollect moisture via condensation, but it was a time-consuming process, and shouldn’t be relied on in a pinch.
“And now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s go down the list of notes I’ve made.” you declared, clapping your hands together loudly to grab everyone’s attention.
“This goes without saying, but my team’s strategy to take down Speed Demon first went off without a hitch. Cyclone, that thing you did to spin up my webs was genius, and I wish I would’ve thought of it first. You and Boomer showed some excellent teamwork out there.”
The Frenchman cracked a small grin, and you all tried your very best to ignore the scowl that Speed Demon shot his way. Just like how Cyclone was ignoring the fist that Boomer had extended towards him. The weather wizard seemed to have every intention of leaving his teammate hanging.
“As for your team,” you said, directing your attention at Scorpia. No one complained at your appointment of her as their leader, so you kept going.
“Your strategy wasn’t bad, but I don’t think you were aggressive enough. Having Hydro-Man hang back to tank a few hits would’ve worked out in your favor if you still had Speed Demon on the board, but with the way things turned out, you would’ve been better off sending him in to keep us busy while Scorpia freed SD, making it a fair fight again. Scorpia’s forcefield lets her tank a few hits, at least, and unless we sent some major firepower her way, she probably would’ve been able to cut through my webs before we could take out Hydro-Man.”
