The whole world still knows you as Kobashi, and you’re still a Private Detective! Close to two months ago, you were hired by the Gyerhae lead priestess Qiao Ning to find a missing emerald Ignis fatuus they were protecting. Or a green spirit. After your initial investigation over at the monastery, the clues pointed out to a foreign Professor named Bombastus. You traveled to Pokyo Lokyo to locate this university teacher. Things went smoothly until they didn’t. You ended up being pepper-sprayed by his assistant in a confusing incident, and they don’t want to see you ever again. That’s what you assume, you were labeled as a creep, and that hurt. So, you went to pursue new clues somewhere else…
The sole reason you got this far was thanks to the young girl you’re with right here and right now! Her name is Ema and she works for Bombastus in some capacity. You two met a couple of weeks ago when you trailed behind a white spirit that later sneaked into her apartment. After making sure she was fine. Ema clued you in on the mysterious Professor’s whereabouts, but couldn’t say more than that because she wasn’t contractually allowed to say a peep.
That same Tuesday when things went awry with the Professor, you went back to visit Ema to look for another opening for the case, only to find out it was her birthday… She was drunk, downhearted, and all alone. You couldn’t stand it, so you gave her some company, and even baked her a birthday cake! It’s been a while since you made desserts, but a good hand is never lost that easily. Her apartment was a mess, so you cleaned it too. Then spent some time with her. You couldn’t bring up the case, but the next day, you thought you could.
It’s been 2 weeks of this, every time you come back by evening Ema is already drunk. She doesn’t let you in until you promise to bake some cake, and her apartment is always in shambles despite you repeatedly asking her to not get it messy, because you don’t want to leave late again! She needs to be more considerate! She knows you’ll clean it up! It’s almost like she’s doing it on purpose.
Here you are, burrito in hand, watching Ema laze around… It’s already way too late, you finished cleaning and you’re feeling tired, but…
What about the case?!
What do you do?
>“Ema, I’m leaving! See you tomorrow!” You’ll think about what to do tomorrow.
>“Huh, Ema, I need to talk to you about something really serious.” You want to stop Ema from being a slacker!
>“Ema, remember the case I talked to you about? Can you help me out?” You’ve endured enough of this treatment to get something out of it…
