As you watch the ground up ahead, wires springing beneath your feet, an idea quickly forms in your mind. Grabbing hold of a bunch of stray wires, they tear just like paper from the rest of the mess from your pull. Testing it in your hand for a split-second, you find that your brand-new rope of wires feels like a bola in your hold, and, whipping around to face the gizmo-spiders, you fling the wires with the utter intent to <span class="mu-i">destroy…</span>
…only to find that your improvised weapon bounces harmlessly off of them, and, thus, the cluster crawls right over it, your bola ultimately forgotten beneath skittering metal feet.
<span class="mu-i">Shit.</span> You grit your teeth, and the split-second you’d spent throwing your wire-bola is enough for a couple of the gizmo-spiders to jump right at you. You barely block the first one with your arm, flinging it down into the dark abyss. The second, meanwhile, tries to sink its legs directly into the flesh of your back, but only manages to scrape you, taking some of your shirt fabric with it.
You’re not sure what kind of point the owner of this place was trying to make with all of these <span class="mu-i">things</span> chasing after you, but you resolve to give that mutant a piece of your mind once you get to the bottom of this.
Again, you grab something sticking forth from the mess of wires– a colorfully-striped, cylindrical-looking thing– chucking it at the thick of the cluster and grinning in satisfaction when a whole bunch of them get knocked off of the wires.
