Additionally, the strange man you were just speaking to could walk up to Kin and get invited to walk with you to Takefu, which would be a total nightmare because you wouldn’t be able to use any jutsu in front of him without tipping your hand. That in mind, you check what the man is doing… Making a beeline straight for Kin with the intention of realizing this nightmare scenario.
You couldn’t run up and say something without really obviously running interference and all but confirming you had something to hide, so you’re forced to watch in impotent silence.
The strange man walks up to Kin, obviously explaining himself as needing an escort to Takefu.
Kin laughs, confirms something the strange man said, then laughs again while patting his belly, but ultimately shakes his head regretfully.
The strange man then walks away. He pauses to light another cigarette, after which he shoots you an odd look, a smirk, and then walks away once more.
You rapidly approach Kin and ask him what just happened.
“Well, Fugetsu there asked if he could come with us to Takefu, but I just bantered with him for a bit and told him that the bigger the crowd, the bigger the target. He’ll be safer on his own, I think. And so will we.” Kin says, patting you on the head. “I’m not a successful merchant for being a rube! I have faith in your abilities despite you being so young, and you can have faith in mine despite being so fat! Haha!”
“Hana was stressing me out by talking with him a bit too openly.” You admit.
“Ah, well, a gregarious nature is more beneficial in our line of work than the opposite. I’m glad you were there! As they say, ‘Some birds eat berries, some birds eat bugs, but every bird has its place!”
“... Who says that?”
“Me! It means everybody has their owns strengths and we’re better served working together. Do you get it?”
