You've decided not to stop and break open every tomb- but you will still dig through the rich and ornate ones; the ones with the best chance of treasure left behind. Of course, you should ask Richard what he thinks...
<span class="mu-b">"Richard, aren't these the symbol of your... belief on these very tombs? Is this not a sacred place?"</span>
<span class="mu-r">"...I don't know, Jon. This place isn't exactly consecrated in faith. This whole mountain is cursed. I would never bury the dead here; perhaps it was more wholesome of a place many years ago, but now these tombs are not of my own people. Nobody remembers these dead; they are of the second death."</span>
<span class="mu-b">"Aren't you afraid of retribution from the spirits?"</span>
<span class="mu-r">"Maybe. The spirits of the recently dead are more active and sensitive, but the spirits of the long dead fade away. Eventually, they go to the second death, where their spirit passes on and their body and possession become simple things and minerals; no more an anchor to this world. The second death may sound a terrible thing but without it, this world would be a prison for all souls until they can finally pass on into the hands of the ones above and beyond us. If we do find restless dead here, perhaps banishing them to the second death is a preferred outcome to being cursed to wander these halls for all eternity."</span>
<span class="mu-b">"Hmph. But this place is old, and you said old spirits fade away."</span>
<span class="mu-r">"Most do. But if spirits of old do remain, then they must be very powerful to stay anchored to this mortal realm. The older the spirit, the more powerful they must be..."</span>
With that, the party move forward and ignore the smaller tombs and sarcophagi. It seems in this time, the dead were entombed in stone instead of in soil- as if their bodies were merely being stored instead of fed back into the sacred earth. The stone sarcophagi are so ubiquitous here that there is no chance all of these are noble or wealthy burials- even peasants and beggars must have been given one to fill up these halls. This is a good sign little wealth would be found in these.
<span class="mu-r">"Can anyone literate tell me what this inscription says?"</span>
"It says; "Family o' the Hills Resting Place."
<span class="mu-r">"That's all I needed to know, Nasir. This is a wealthy burial chamber- the hill families always are. Let's check here first."</span>
