Having gotten up early, you decided to let Cindy sleep in while you started checking things off your list. You packed your casual clothes into a gym bag, slipped on your suit and took to the skies.
More than anything, you needed coffee. Pulling all nighters and only getting 4 to 5 hours of sleep was becoming a bad habit. After grabbing a cup of joe, you decided to pay a visit to your local library. You don't own a computer anymore, since your old one got blown up by Toomes.
Finding a vacant desktop was easy enough at this time of day. You sat down, slipped the Oscorp flash drive into the USB port and started browsing through the files contained within. Thankfully, Phin was able to arrange the files in an easy to read format.
For the most part, Dr. Connors covered a good chunk of the drive's contents during your conversation on the helicarrier. Someone was tampering with spider DNA in an attempt to create genetically engineered super spiders. Nowhere did it mention anything about human experimentation or the applications of such genetic tampering on sentient test subjects.
The files also mentioned Osborn’s fall from grace and his shameful new position within his company. You briefly wondered whether the Goblin was aware that the object of his hatred was no more than a glorified mascot, past his prime. How would he react when he learned about that?
You scrolled down until you reached the most recent entries in the database, and found two in particular that drew your interest. One documented the findings of a “Gwendolyn Stacy”, a brilliant young upstart from ESU that developed two revolutionary drugs as a part of a revitalized program called the “Biogenetic Project Supreme”. Definitely doesn’t sound evil at all.
One was some sort of chemical called “Ethyl Chloride”, and the other was…VERY classified, apparently. You couldn’t find a name for it no matter how hard you searched.
Feeling frustrated, you pocketed the drive and left the library. You’d pretty much gotten the gist of it from Connors. That bit about the chemicals they were experimenting with was getting interesting, but you figured that this computer’s owner didn’t have the clearance to access the more sensitive information.
Absently, you checked your phone to see how long you’d been staring at that computer screen. About 2 hours had passed reading all that. It was technically still early, so you thought about everything you wanted to accomplish today.
There was that job that Silvermane offered you, and you still had to go and check up on Pete and Vic. They were probably worried sick about you.
And you could also use Felicia and Prowler’s help with a new suit idea that you had rumbling around in your head. You didn’t expect to make a regular habit of fighting vampires, but knowing that you’d royally pissed off two major players in the undead underworld was enough to make you paranoid. If they ever came back, you wanted to be ready.
