“Hm?”
“You knew Kaz’s name,” Chuichi explains. “You knew his dads. You even seem to know whatever pervert calls themselves Settan!”
“You have a choice vocabulary,” The Kind Man replies. “If we are introducing ourselves proper, then you may call me Urizen.”
Chuichi glares at him. “How about I call you by your actual name?”
“Yes. Urizen.”
Chuichi shakes his head. “You’ll have everyone believe you’re a demon, but I know your face. Does the name Wei Kobashi mean anything to you?”
“Once, it did.”
“I knew it,” Chuichi continues. “Wei Kobashi fostered me after my parents… well, any time I was in his office, I would see a photo of you. I read on you as well anytime I could… you look the same give or take six decades and a crappy mask… you’re Mitsuharu Inoki, aren’t you? You were in the original class of this school. Word in Dakugeto is that you started that cult of freaks in the forest and then vanished.”
Urizen shakes his head. “You have me mistaken. That was indeed a name this vessel went by once upon a time… but that was another life entirely. I do not lie to you when I say my name is Urizen. However… you are correct in detecting my deception. I am no demon. Rather… I am an angel.”
Chuichi pauses. “A… what now? Hey now, that can’t be right. An angel?”
“What do you find so perplexing?”
“Well it’s just… an angel is, you know…”
“What?”
Chuichi scratches his head. “Well, they’re all super cute blonde girls who fall from heaven and make some poor salaryman’s life a little better one spongebath at a time, right?”
Urizen pauses. “What have you read?”
“Fine literature.”
Urizen lets out a small laugh. “You are indeed a perplexing one, Chuichi Murkami. I am certain there is reason for your introduction?”
“You said I wasn’t important.”
“You are not.”
“Hey!” Chuichi snaps. “You can’t just blurt it out like that! That stuff kinda stings, you know? Didn’t you call yourself the Kind Man?”
Urizen shrugs. “You have no place in this grand game, Chuichi Murkami. Consider yourself at home with billions of humans, billions of demons, and over a quadrillion ants. I see it all before me. You should consider yourself blessed not to be involved in the fate of our worlds.”
“… Ant?”
Chuichi takes a deep breath… before running up to Urizen. He raises his leg, and with a mighty push, he kicks the shogi board, pieces flying down the cliff side.
