Quoted By:
The spire of ice and flame before us lurched back. It groveled, squealing in pain as we both loosed another flashing ray of light onto it. The Ginnungagap's ice shattered, and the flames flickered as it went down into the vast dark below. The ruined image of Hainei fell with it, absorbed into that endless depth of Dreamtime.
It sank, lower and lower, until we could not hear its wail anymore.
[ESKART] "It is done."
'We vanquished it, and now HEUS' influence will run away from Belkinsire.'
With the deed done, we both breathed sighs of relief as the Dreamtime around us morphed into something more pleasant to look at, something brighter...
[ESKART] "While I retain the art of Oneiromancy, I cannot see the far future. I can still grasp the next minutes, just as the Shamans did with my own prophecy. What little I can predict, I can act on. But it will not be enough to cover a vast swath of happenings and possibilities with my hedges of protection."
[ESKART] "Even so... I cannot let that hold me back."
Eskart turned to me, looking me in the eye with his sky blue ones.
[ESKART] "You were right, Muna. I had lost my sight, I was being ignorant... but you said what I needed to hear. You came to me at my weakest and fought alongside me... and now, having experienced all this... I feel at last that I am ready to cease my hesitations." He said, placing his hand over his heart.
[ESKART] "I am ready do as you do, and live for the present, in the present. We can only save the world we see... we can't make time march any faster than it is willing to go."
[ESKART] "Forever, I shall be grateful for this."
'Join me, Eskart.'
[ESKART] "Hm...?"
'I've set about to Redeem the world. You are a man who does not need to hear many words to glean my intent. So now that I have Redeemed you of your fears... I ask, would you join me in Redeeming all others?'
I stretched my hand out for him.
He began walking across the void of Dreamtime to me, and took it.
[ESKART] "I have been complacent for most of my life..." He said, staring down at my jade fur, and then back to my eyes; "Yes. I will join you. Nothing right now would make me more fulfilled now that I know what I have to do."
'...Thank you, Eskart.'
We nodded to one another.
