Random symbol coincidence I just noticed from playing a lot of Medieval 2 Total War skirmishes lol, and reading about Tamerlane.
Everyone already knows about Nergal Sumerian plague / war god etc and Nurgle from Warhammer 40k, but I just realised the triple disc Nurgle plaguebearer triangle circle rune, which I always assumed was adapted from the biohazard or maybe radiation symbol, actually bears close resemblance to the flag of Tamerlane, or the tamgha of the Turco-Mongol Timurid Empire. See pic related (the Nurgle rune has a lot of variants, the three circle triangle is alternately rotated up or down)
