[2/2]
“And find myself robbed blind in this godless hive of scum and villainy? I think not.” Your wiry confessor sniffs, flicking a dismissive hand as others make their way down the gangplank. “No you will find me right here, preaching the evils of usury and greed to these heathen wretches by the docks. Pearls before swine, I much suspect.”
You look down the gangway to Sister Ignatius and her nuns setting up a station already. There is already a line-up of beggars and broken things awaiting treatment, though several shuffle out of line once they realise there is no free food or spare coin to be had from the healing sisters.
“She has a kind heart, the good Sister.” Father Towbray nods, following your gaze. It has been two months and he has not asked if the Angel has visited you again, not even during your regular confessions. “Too kind, if one was to be uncharitable.”
“Too kind, Father?” You frown, watching a dockside worker with an exaggerated limp approach the sister’s stall. You’d spotted him moments before, and he seemed to be walking just fine. ]“Salve Reginae was kind. Is it not a saintly virtue?”
“Aye, she was. The very soul of mercy and kindness, our Mother was.” Father Towbray’s bony hands grasp his rough red cloth as he walks away, leaving you these parting words. “But it was not Salve Reginae’s kindness that struck the Dragon down...”

(1) Matters of Faith – Salve Reginae
>You find yourself agreeing with Father Towbray in this as well. Put the failings of wicked men like Hast Vancewell to one side, the Almighty will do with their souls as He wilt. You have seen Evil. True evil. Beings so black of heart and corrupt of soul that if the whole world had a neck to wring through a noose they would do so and laugh with the joy of it. These creatures that were once men. The Sister Ignatius’ of the world are but lambs before the butcher’s cleaver to things such as they. Only the Shield of Adam and Blade of Cain can protect the faithful from such Evil. Not kindness. [Haughty] + [Idealist]
>You find Father Towbray a great spiritual comfort and guide in most aspects of your faith. But in this he is wrong. Salve Reginae, Mother of Mercy, was not ‘too kind’. Kindliness is a saintly virtue. When you pass the threshold into thereafter, it is she who will waits for you at the gates of the Almighty’s Halls, wrapping the wounds of your body and drying the tears from your eyes. This much is written in the Book of Brothers. Salve Reginae forgives all and, while earthly justice must still be delivered, no one’s soul is beyond redemption. No one. [Hearty] + [Idealist]
