The Kodama are child-like forest spirits. How long they have lived in this wood- even compared to immortal beings, like elves, is almost impossible to even imagine. Without the gift of speech or reason- they are not a "race" of people, but something else- something more primordial.
You see them playing with the twigs and leaves, the rocks, in this most ancient and secret of groves. How must these creatures think, or experience time, is totally alien to you. Beings of an unchanging, timeless place- timeless life.

>>5730530Only when asked to sing do the Kodama react- swaying with the words music. They do not make any noise in response- only the wind in the trees above answer you.

The tiny glass beads enchant the creatures- the Kodama look over the small gifts- a colorful toys totally unlike anything in their small, isolated little world they live in. It's so much that soon, all the Kodama gather around them, touching them, examining their smoothness, and keeping them. It's clear Benjamin isn't getting those back; but he's used to giving gifts and receiving nothing in exchange.
But then, as the forest canopy overhead gets even darker- the party feels a tug on their sleeves. The little creature have something to show you- a secluded grove. Scrim instantly realizes what this is- it is hidden in the same way his home was once hidden in its own place- they could have walked past it a hundred times and never found it.
The natural grove is a quiet, secluded place with a natural rock waterfall, beautiful fireflies dancing in the dim light, and soft grass with bushes all around. It is a sacred place. This is where they will sleep tonight.
