Your name is ALPHONSE, the second-born scion of the once-noble VON GUNDYR house. Yours was a life of distinction, military regale and uppercrust company–that was, until your brother’s catastrophic military career along the border. Your clan fallen from grace, you came to this ghastly dungeon on the king’s bounty to reclaim your family’s honor and restore the pride of your name in return for a LICH’S head.
You do not brave this hole alone, however; you’ve made out along your journey with the aid of a mismatched, malformed party of monsters, half-breeds, and mutants. You travel with LADY AVA, the ethereal dhampir that’s to lead your way through to the end, NOELLE, a handmaiden doll of porcelain, sugar, and human organs, and EMILIA, a fearsome magical berserker once clad in a cell of armor.
Your party is at a low point. Your guide, AVA, is crestfallen, her once pompous manner gone and in its place a broken girl split between duty and family. Your soldier, EMILIA, although freed, is still bound by her body’s curse and will die as soon as she breaks from the dungeon’s immortality spell. And your doll, NOELLE, is broken, somewhere between life and death, just as soon to revive by the spell as would a broken sword.
