“For the first order of business shall be our current state of affairs.” TalOS began the meeting as he activated the Tactical Display Table before them, “As you can see the Xenos have within recent months begun skirmish attempts against the Federation. None of these have numbered more than ten ships and none of them have gotten past our garrisons.”
TalOS had the terminal change to an animation of one of the previous battles, “These attacks were likely an attempt to probe our defenses and weigh them. While there is also the chance of them using it to mount a possible raiding force, none have gotten deep enough to reveal what their ultimate aim was.”
With those words TalOS moved the screen over to another point with a wave of the hand, “The Orks have not made any attempt to attack us since the initial incursion. Legion Master Matthias, you have had far more experience with Orks, what do you think of this?”
The Imperial Fist nodded his yellow helm as he reached over and drew a line through the holovid, “Orks will attempt to find the quickest fight they are able to, but they also want to win. Their Warboss has likely decided that they will eliminate their greater enemy first before turning their entire attention upon us. Only then will they gain the support of their ‘gods’ for the next war.”
“So you suspect it is a cultural thought process developed to not develop a war on two fronts?” Arch Magos Dominus Sicaran of Mars asked.
“That is what I have witnessed from the Xenos during strategy meetings and on the field.”
“That comes with the assumption that the Orks will fight us if we come towards them.”
“Yes. We are too far away at the current moment for the Orks to take interest in our activities. They will not care if the enemy is close enough to fight.”
“Thus before anything else we will need to consider whether or not we wish to bring the Orks in upon us.” TalOS pointed out as he looked upon the vid.
The group of Tech Priests stood silently as they processed the request. It would have unnerved any other human as their comrades went silent but the Legion Master simply allowed them the time to think. Sure he had not attended something like this with the Mechanicum but he could tell when people were thinking.
