He tried and tried to reach forward into the ether to try and get some communications committed. It felt like a fool's errand as any whose minds were more greatly connected to the ever changing tides were killed upon the arrival of the ship. Those who were not blessed barely rose from their spots as psychic pressure snuffed their lives out.
His crew was up and alive though, but with their powers diminished and famine starting to take hold he wondered how long they would last.
“Come on, come on!” He shouted as he reached forward one more time, “Blessed be someone!”
“We… we can hear you, Captain Lestos!” Announced another Captain with sheer joy within his voice.
“Captain Traidor! Bless you!” Declared Captain Lestos as he felt his body become invigorated, “That Ship at the edge of the system, where the Star of Elorius is blotted out, that is the Mechanicum’s super weapon!”
“We… see it.” The Captain called out with what Lestos was realizing was a shuttered breath, “To the Everseeing One, it is massive.”
“It is. We cannot fight it though.+ Declared the Captain as he cursed the universe under his breath, “It is surrounded by numerous metal ships, a Mechanicum Fleet! The Divinators were correct, the Mechanicum came to destroy us under their boot.”
“We must… get the word out.” Answered the Sloog Captain on the other line as the vessel began to turn, “More must be needed…”
At the edge of his vision the Sloog Captain watched as the vessel near him was turning. He watched as numerous catalysts began to light as if psychic power was being fed into them. But the enemy’s ship was out of range.
And then he realized, “You mean to sacrifice us!”
“It is the only… way.” The psychic connection was cut as the twice traitor ship began to move into position.
“Why did I throw my hat with these fanatics!” Cursed the Sloog as he gave the command, “I do not care how but move this vessel! All other ships shall be designated as enemy damn Many-Eye bastards!”
And with that declaration the two sides began to fire upon each other. In the end, there would be no one to send a communication out to those who would bother listening.
