Zodd implies that his strength is comparable, if not stronger than Guts. It's possible that you might have the edge in combat against the apostle if you all tackled him at once, but Guts has only now reached the castle's entrance, so until he deals with the Mandragoras, you can't exactly count on him for the save.
Talking with a monster who could easily obliterate an empowered Barnham... You can already feel your legs trembling...
