The Astartes looked at the drink for a moment then back at TalOS, “Thank you Father.”
“Do not thank me yet. You need to see if it is good first.” The Primarch told his son with a small chuckle in his voice.
The Astartes looked at the drink with a moment’s hesitation. Something that TalOS could easily see related to how children acted when they were first transferred to Corpse Starch for their nutritional value. The man was a soldier though and soon that moment of waiting went away as he took a drink.
TalOS watched as the Astarte's eyes widened with shock. While light like a string, he could feel the binding between him and his son vibrate with excitement. The feeling of another person, well, that was something that TalOS rarely ever felt since he partook in the Blackstone Amulet’s presence. He had only been processing their feelings analytically, but here he did not need to.
Just as suddenly did he drink it that the Astartes put it down. Silence followed as the link between Primarch and Astartes waned in presence. But the face of his son was softened as he placed the drink upon the table.
“I… seemed to have remembered this taste in my youth in the Jermany. I… it is odd that I can experience that.”
“I had read in the records of Terra, during my short visit there, that your people were fond of such drinks. I take it that assessment was true.”
“Correct, Father. What little water we could get was always dirty in some form. Thus it was standard to purify it using microbes to introduce alcohol. The amount of alcohol was small but it was enough to clean the taint.” The Astartes in a mix of both memory and what was learned after, “The Emperor granted us clean water but we found no reason to stop our drinks. It was what our people drank, for where the Franks had their Wine we had our Lard.”
“Then I think a simple cheer is in order.” TalOS said as he presented AL4N his own mug to drink from, “For the safety of humanity, and may the Machine God bless us on that path.”
The Astartes gave a solemn nod while moving his drink in motion along with AL4N, “For the safety of humanity, and may the Machine God bless us on that path.”
With a clear clink of the mug all groups took drinks, but none of them gulped it down like a Space Wolf. Instead they took their fill and lowered the drinks so that discussion could continue.
