There was silence as they crossed under the waning moon of Mannslieb. The other moon, Morrslieb, was nowhere to be seen by the party who marched under the night sky. The only reminder that it existed was the subtle green glow of Lucian’s eyes that pierced the darkness just like the evil moon.
“We… we will be making our way to the Dwarf Hold then.” Lucian announced to everyone as they continued walking towards the Grey Mountains. Under the light of Mannslieb the peaks had taken an almost haunted appearance. It was like they were ghosts that were springing out of the forest canopy of trees that rolled out before them.
“Caution is to be taken. The winds are heavy in these lands with magic.” Tee-Nee-Tyny said as he was perched upon the snout of Bok. The Lizardman looked almost cute in his staring expression of anticipation.
“Those lands are filled with monsters after all.” Lucian admitted with a solemn sigh, “Who knows whats before us.”
“There will be rodents.” Guaranteed Tee-Nee-Tyny.
“Skaven, then it will be a good slaughter at least.” Lucian told the Lizard, “What about you Adok? Ready to visit your fellows?”
“I am.” The Dwarf said simply. There was that standard tone of commitment that the man always had but Lucian felt that the words were both final but regretful.
It was not something to ask the Dwarf about right now. Lucian could feel that in the tone. When they arrived at this fortress, this Karak, then he can let them all know.
Lucian gave a prayer, his heart weighed in anticipation for the path they were going to take. He gave first and foremost his prayers to Morr who was now the keeper of all blood families that Lucian had. He also gave thanks to the Lady for both his path and the numerous servants of hers who had helped him. Lastly, to Grimnir for the strength that he provided.
He ended it with a prayer to Morr once more, seeking confirmation of the path they were to take.
As the Knight opened his eyes he noticed that something was in the sky. Looking up the Knight saw a black bird flying in the sky.
It was a group of ravens, Symbols of Morr. While a single raven was simply an image of Morr, a grouping of them like this was something to be cautious about. It meant death by ill fortune, but Lucian understood it almost instantly for another. For a grouping of such creatures was known as either an unkindness or conspiracy.
