>>5824870“What's all this now?” another familiar voice calls, you all turning to see the village chief walking up. “And why are there almost a million demons just turning up in my village? What is going on, Chilli?”
“Demons?” you ask, turning back to Alimar, who seems worried. But you shake it off for now, turning back to the chief. “Don't worry chief, we're going to take care of this outside the village. I just couldn't teleport anywhere else on world from as far away as we were.”
“I see. Just make sure none of those demons get loose in the village, I don't want to have to get the anti-demon spray back out.” he replies, sounding far too relaxed for having hundreds of thousands of summoned demons suddenly teleported to the village. But, you guess after everything that's happened over the past few years, his worldview about what constitutes a problem has just evolved over time. “The stuff's quite repugnant.”
“I'll make sure none of them get loose.” you tell him, turning back to the younger mage. “Isn't that right?”
“Y-Yes sir!” Alimar replies, bowing again. “I won't let the Kuriboh run free, I promise.”
“Wait, hold on. Those monsters. Did you just say that they're Kuriboh?” Chief Hiropon asks, suddenly quite intrigued. “You summoned forth Kuriboh?”
“Y-Y-Yes, I did.” he replies, now a bit more nervously as the Chief has rushed forward, not realizing that it isn't anger motivating the chief, but curiosity.
“My old man stopped his 'grand plan' for revenge, but decided to spare him.” you tell Hiropon, getting the village leader's attention for a moment. “So, I brought him here to take to the firing grounds, see what he's got.”
“Very well, then I shall come too.” Hiropon replies, then turns back to the young man. “Alimar Zorc, was it? Let's see what you can do.”
The three of you head out of the village, going past your home to the other side of the mountain while Alimar tells his tale. Of how his master was attacked and ultimately killed by Dreadzone's enforcers, how he then took the ship in an ill-advised revenge attempt, how he then tried to battle your parents and even the summoned greater demon Raviel was felled by your dad's hand. Notably his right, which is a detail you don't miss. Dad taking the effort to one-shot the demon with his Stand means that he had to sense it was powerful. Hiropon asks some more technical questions about his summoning, the three of you going into more of the complexities of magic before cresting the ridge, the mass of Kuriboh floating overhead the whole way. Then, having a thought you tell him to get the Kuriboh down into the spell-scorched plains, but to hold off on doing anything else until you got back. If they're all going to explode, you know a certain someone, or rather someones, who won't want to miss this.
