A fire had been put out not too long ago. It was one of a few others that plagued the day. Illusions and luck had hidden the place.
Nothing another bombing run with napalm couldn't fix.
"As cathartic as it would be to know they met their ends for and torturing countless others," Ayane spoke to you as she linked her arm into yours. "I am fine with bandits simply being pushed out, if these situations are what comes of it."
"Yeah, no kidding." You'd probably have to sacrifice a little of magical fertilizer to restore the trees to how they were.
Mel had done extremely well in your eyes, successfully killing at least three beguilers— all of which were veterans. She had at one point gotten into a sniper battle with one of them in the forest's edge. Your beguiler was almost bested by her bandit counterpart, as your clankers were distracted by other bandits and wouldn't come here in time while your wives were either on The Vixen's Luck searching for the Bandit King or helping the clankers.
Yet this unfortunate bandit chick didn't account for you being close by, as Mel gave coordinates for you to shoot a mortar.
The outcome of this battle resulted in a dead bandit chick and said forest fire.
Your clankers, after some quick tinkering, were fixed with hoses and containers of water. They got the job done, but you knew that it wasn't as efficient or helpful as it could've been. You needed Ayane's help to make sure the fire didn't spread. This event made you entertain the idea of making situational robots that could act in emergencies.
A strong gust of wind made a creaking branch fall off its tree, snapping down into the ground. The trunk soon followed with a louder thud.
Those robots would need to be quick and effective.
The sun started to set, and a stream of news came to you as the day day turned to night.
Cattleya had to have some cat naps. She'd been hard at work hunting down bandits, her claws caked in blood while she realized she was beginning to unlock her [Custom Special]. Your Cat had been starting to show— appearance all but confirming she was gonna give you a litter of kittens.
Herta did the same soon after, retiring towards your room to catch some much needed sleep.
In fact, most of your wives were tired. Too tired to celebrate, at least. Though this last part was likely due to the Bandit King and some of his cohorts still being alive, so this couldn't be called a complete victory.
"I wouldn't worry about them too much, my gallant Master." Said Ruby. "After such a beating, they will likely need time to lick their wounds."
"It's possible he might even leave to regain his strength elsewhere." Ayane supposed. "If he's willing to try braving the mountains again, or if he'll pass through some small town."
