You and your partner both stiffen upon hearing that name.
"Talk."
"I told you that there was an upcoming mission to handle him. That mission is soon— a couple of days, actually. We've spent the last month scouting and putting together information. Remember how I said that I most likely wouldn't be sent there as a squad leader?"
He sets his grenade launcher over his shoulder and shifts uncomfortably.
"I was wrong. My squad is being sent out as a member of the forward vanguard. The most dangerous of positions. Us newer squads are there to serve as shock troops."
"Why do you need shock troops?"
"He's assembled a gang of Digimon. That hooligan has been busy skulking around in the Network, and we just didn't have the resources to webcrawl it. Not with one of our best radars broken. By the time we found him, he was already too well-established."
"Why isn't Brigadramon doing anything? If he has a whole squad, and he's such a threat by himself, wouldn't it make sense to send him in?"
"It would. But the problem is that they're in a partition. One of the largest ones, but still a partition. Brigadramon's role is to protect the city. Our overseers aren't going to send him inside the Network unless it's a city-spanning threat."
So they can't even count on that overwhelming firepower. You've been itching to finish that Digimon off once and for all. The grudge that you and Phascomon have been nursing has evolved into something more serious over time. Some pit in your stomach is telling you that this needs to be dealt with before you go. It's some kind of root that's tying you to 87O. In a practical sense, this isn't your problem, but you feel like it's your responsibility.
"We in? Because I sure am." Phascomon says, looking up at your face. You nod sharply, and he turns back to Hi-Commandramon.
"So, you need our help. That part is obvious. What's our role in all this? We're unsanctioned, we can't be fighting alongside you. I'm having a little bit of trouble figuring out your vested interests here."
"As the frontal vanguard, we have to cut through his mob of Digimon. We've analyzed the readings. There's a monstrous amount of them. It's actually quite unbelievable how many he's gathered up. That means the risk to our lives will be the highest, and our survival priority is the lowest. I don't want my men dragged into a deathtrap."
"Of course you don't. So we're here to crash the party and deal with them?"
