A minute later, Izumi steps back into the classroom, face flushed. “Hoohoohoo, sorry, I needed to get some air real quick!”
“No, it’s fine!” A perfectly gracious Peppa transmits to her with the grin of a chimpanzee, “Hope you got it all out of your system!”
“Oh, I wouldn’t say that,” Izumi grins back. “I’m gonna be holding onto this for some time!”
“Ugh,” Peppa groans. Then, she looks up at Izumi earnestly. “But you won’t tell, right?”
“Of course not,” Izumi tells her, honest. She even winks! “Not in a million years.”
Peppa lets out a sigh of relief. “Thank y-ACK!” Peppa rubs the spot where Izumi’s flicked her. “What was that for!?”
“Ya gross." Izumi teases. Then, she announces louder, “And we got a show to get on the road! Chop-chop, people! Those bags aren’t going to search themselves! Line up alphabetically!”
Still stuck 10 minutes past the ending bell, the rest of the students figure this isn’t going to end anytime soon, so they give in and cooperate.
“Why alphabetically?” Peppa asks Izzy as they set up a booth with curtains.
“If there’s an order to the line, we can presume the culprit to be among everybody rather than towards the end of the line from being the last to voluntarily join. This way, we have a higher chance of finding your chocolate sooner.”
Peppa nods. “The important thing is that I get the chocolate back, especially before Cocoa’s school starts… which is 49 minutes from now.”
Izumi nods, thinking aloud.. “And that’s If we get the chocolate back, you still gotta figure something out for if we don’t.”
Peppa starts to breathe faster and faster.
Izumi pat pats her cousin, “Happy thoughts!”
