“How’re you holding up?” you said.
She didn’t move or make any gestures for about a minute, and right when you were starting to believe that she wasn’t going to reply, her hands began to move.
“I’m just so…frustrated with myself.” she signed. “I was so dead set on rushing in to save the day, that I almost messed everything up. I got sloppy, and someone you care about got hurt because of it.”
You remained silent and stared at her for a while, not wanting to interrupt.
“I can’t stop thinking about all the things I could have done better if I were a little more prepared. The training I did with my parents and Matt was really helpful, but sometimes…it feels like everything happens too fast.” she admitted. “Matt says that happens because I’m standing in my own way, and I can’t get out of my head.”
You think you know what she’s talking about. There are times when you can’t translate your proven physical prowess to an actual real situation. Your brain feels fuzzy, your arms grow heavy, and your legs are moving as if they were stuck in mud. It’s purely psychological and has a lot to do with confidence.
Judging from what you’ve seen so far, Cindy clearly has the skills to pay the bills. But she’s also been sheltered for most of her life, and doesn’t always know how to apply those skills to a real-life situation. No amount of training done in a controlled environment can fully prepare you for the chaotic nature of a real fight. Your opponents will almost never behave in a completely predictable manner.
You’re guessing that that part of her training was something that her parents were saving for later.
“Does that ever happen to you?” she asked, looking more vulnerable than you’ve seen her in a while.
What will you say?
>”It used to, yeah. But I’ve gotten into so many scraps that I’ve stopped doubting myself in that regard.”>”Sometimes. I’m usually way faster than the guys that I go up against, so it doesn’t matter as much for me.”>”Maybe you should try meditating to clear your head and relax. We know some people that can probably help you out with that.”>”The only way to solve this problem is to get you some more real-world experience. I think it’s time to take your training to the next level.”(Suggest a trainer for Cindy.)>”You’re still young. Way too young to be fighting full-grown men, in my personal opinion, but I won’t try to stop you from doing what you were raised to do. But you have a lot to learn, and it would do you a lot of good to slow down and take some time to figure things out.”>Write-in.Pastebins:
