The Mojave Outpost was somewhat lively, mostly finishing up it's construction and the deployment of it's garrison. There's this huge statue their building in honor of some sort of treaty between a local vigilante/law enforcement group out here in Nevada called the Desert Rangers. Seems that they and the New California Rangers joined up together rather recently. Didn't really bother Gerald to much frankly, because it would seem that neither of them really had the eyes to tell himself and his crew apart from the standard faire.
It took some time to acclimate to the environment, playing buddy buddy with the local troopers, getting that reputation of being 'that guy' who can get you what you want, you know the typical stuff. However on one particularly slow night Gerald had seen some professional looking fellows heading into the main building at the outpost. Following along inside the building, palming the guards that were stationed out there several hundred NCR Dollars, as well as an I.O.U for their favorite rations, seriously the MRE's out here are dog shit you'd be surprised how easy it is to buy an NCR soldier through their stomach.
Stalking up against the wall he listens in closely, looks like the bigshot in charge of the Mojave operations had just arrived, some guy going by General Kimball. They mostly seemed to discuss scouting reports, along with a few other matters, seems this was a continuation of the pacification wars that they had begun as a retaliation against some native tribals and raiders. Though Kimball seems to believe that the campaign should continue forwards further into the Mojave towards Las Vegas. They didn't seem to know to much about the city beyond that it was there, however there seemed to be logistical hang ups out the ass along the I-15 all resulting from the Boneyard.
Still it seems that the long term objective of the NCR here in the Mojave is a full on occupation of the area, probably colonization or integration of the non-hostile locals, and of course exploitation of the local supplies. There also seemed to be some discord amongst the chains of command between the Rangers and this General. It's hard to get a read on exactly why, but best guesses are that it's difficulty integrating separate command structures.
