You step in front of Shin, drawing your zanpakuto as you begin to explain. “Tsuzuri Raiden’s one of my favourites, y’know. It generates an electric current in whatever you touch, so ya can cast it and then you’re zanpakuto’ll give anyone ya hit with it a nasty shock as well as cut them up. The incantation… is…” You stop, feeling strange, while Shin looks at you, confused.
“Danketsu? You alright, man?”
“Yeah… yeah, I…” You’d never felt anything like this before, but you felt a part of you almost <span class="mu-i">craving</span> for you to cast that spell, and not just cast it - you could feel the reiatsu in your body already shifting and changing to accommodate it, despite the fact you hadn’t even begun to consciously cast it. You sighed, the word around you fading away, your focus only on your reiatsu and the extension of yourself you held in your hand.
“Tsuzuri Raiden.”
The spell sprang to life as easily as you breathed, and Ryūkihei crackled with lightning. You realised the part of you that had wanted the spell so badly was Ryūkihei itself, that feeling of want being replaced by one of pleasure and contentment.
As it faded, and you found yourself able to focus on other things, you turned back to your supposed student. “Sorry Shin, I-“ You shut yourself up, surprised, seeing that despite you basically not helping whatsoever, Shin’s zanpakuto was also crackling with yellow thunder. Not as brightly or as fiercely as your own, but still… it was impressive.
“…Nicely done, man.”
“Thanks! It, uh… Well, you made it look easy, so I just… followed your lead.” Shin said, shrugging. The fact that he had been able to do so and actually succeed spoke to the boy’s innate talent for kido, which you were certain now if you hadn’t been before far outstripped your own, and you were sure you were still considered good at it by the standards of most shinigami.
The two of you work on the spell for some more time, ensuring Shin is capable of using it in a combat situation. By the time you’re done, it’s dark, and time for you all to head back to your dorms.
