>>5191974>“Any idea who it could be?”“Not really,” she shrugs. “Anyone who might think it funny to have a go at us?”
“Which could be just about anyone on the schoolship,” you sigh. You hear another explosion, and belatedly realise that while you’ve been discussing it, the cardboard ghost has been continuing its reign of terror.
“All tanks, it is not a ghost, it’s a cardboard model, mounted on some kind of RC Car I’d bet,” you say. “If you accidentally brought something that isn’t training rounds like we did, have a go at it and see if you can take it out.”
Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of your team, no one can decisively corner the tank, a matter not helped by the weather, and as practice time comes to an end, you’re forced to call off the hunt. You do find some more explosives planted around, and on closer inspection you can see that while they probably won’t be able to do much damage to anything, they are designed to give a mighty flash. You resolved to figure out who did it later so you can get them back.
>Start looking for something ‘small but meaningful.’At lunch, you decide to try finding something for Yuzu’s birthday. Thankfully, exams are over, meaning you have a little bit of leeway when it comes to getting back in time for classes, but you still don’t have too much time to waste. You decide on a combination of poking your nose in the various shops on the schoolship to see if there’s anything of interest, and browsing shops on the mainland in the city closest to the ship which happens to be Osaka, giving you plenty of choice. Even better, most places offer express delivery, so you should have anything you order from the city in the morning. Eventually, as well as a basket of chocolates you reckon she’ll be fond of, you manage to pick something out.
