Quickly Fiahong spoke up, “Originally we went to gather job requests and info on who pulls strings. But most shops wanted nothing to do with us and the job board had little paying to highly time-consuming jobs, unfit for our current abilities. The shop on the list that we broke into was closed for some unknown reason, and knowing it is one of the richer stores we broke in to gather medicines, Yuan, and the ledger book to see who are the clients. I gathered all that I could and left to see some kid had driven up with his servant and demanded to get inside.”
“A mere child bested you?” Ra-Ming interrupts.
“More like a teenager, they had clear combat experience as they easily bested Ler and the other guy in but a moment.”
Ler yelps. “What!”
Ignoring him Fiahong continues, “After that embarrassment, I went to take down the kid, but was eventually bested as well.”
Silence fills the room, and sweat rolls off the shoulders of both men as sheer the pressure of the situation flattens them into the ground. Sparing the torture Ra-Ming speaks.
“As punishment, the both of you will stand on coals and announce your failure to your peers, then taken to do the harder labors outside the city now that your faces are known, begone.”
“Wait! Spare me!” Begged Fiahong
“I memorize the ledger I found and can give you priceless information, it was all my idea and it wasn't a complete failure!”
Ra-Ming gazed into the eyes of the pleading, and found mercy within himself.
“Very well, I shall spare you both the punishment but, your labor remains the same until I call upon you again. Leave.” Ra-Ming sighs.
The two men leave and are bagged again as they leave the hideout. Their wrappings finally being cut when they are deposited at a safehouse Inn.
Ler snarls as his voices raises, “Spare me… SPARE. ME! I guess im not worth half damm now am I!?”
Ler’s throat is grabbed and pressed into the wall, his feet dangle off the ground with Fiahong’s arm holding him up.
Fiahong leans in, fire in his eyes as he whispers. “All you had to do, was trick a kid and we’d be in good. Instead you look go down like a bad joke and leave me alone to clean up the mess. You arent worth anything, but we are stuck together, follow my lead and you’ll stay in the game longer. Understood?”
Ler, nods through clenched teeth and Fiahong lets go, “Lets get some sleep, we got work in the morning.”
The two then lay on padded mats, drifting off to sleep in preparation of the work to come.
