>>5662898>I also liked how you blended in the weather control themeHerbert's concept of "environment energy" used to do things like power the glowglobes was a direct inspiration for both that Quest as well as certain elements of Monke Quest. It's perfectly retrofuturistic and fits with the sort of "what if Tesla was the basis for modern technology?" kind of writing that I think really fits well for the sort of themes we're going for. The weather control was especially my favorite element because it both gave legitimacy to the small house the players chose to control as well as giving a slightly more in-depth explanation for where exactly these space nobles get their nigh infinite energy for all their wacky inventions. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time or patience (or players) to really get into the retrofuturistic and intentionally anachronistic elements of my DUNE setting- The concept of what are essentially feudal serfs working on farms with hand tools and living with animals, tilling the land, and upholding a agricultural economic system of which the excess can somehow produce nuclear death rays and FTL spaceships is like, exactly my kind of jam. Shame DUNE isn't actually like that.
For reasons above; the worst part about DUNE is honestly Arrakis IMO. I fucking hate that shitty planet. Show me the noble intrigue and cool space battles and psychic space witches and court intrigue on another planet instead of your chosen one """plot""" Herbert, you fucking hack.
