>>5125331Guardsman Smith having taken off his own helmet, Suranovich doing the same while he spoke. "Morty, right? 38/45, you got the skills to pay the bills. We all were bloody wondering who was scoring top three on base and wasn't even on arms duty. Are you some officer's kid or something?" Smith asks his strong jaw working out the words, Suranovich leant in to examine you, her vibrant red hair a surprise. "He's a Corporal Smith…" She muttered with a shake of her head, her deep blue eyes flickering onto the others present. "He's with the Interior Ministry." She said with confidence in her deduction, cocking her head towards Mistress Yuga. Smith's eyes widened a little at the words.
You too were caught off guard and didn't know how to reply. You had thought everyone knew why you were there, you own idiocy embarrassing you further. You sat further back in your seat unsure what to say as the two watch you. Stepping around the awkward topic you spoke up. "Well I actually beat that score… I got 42/45 this morning. So I'm technically 2nd on base…" Smith raised an eyebrow at your words, Suranovich just rolled her eyes before speaking again. "Well he clearly isn't good at espionage, so what are you? Psionics?" You blinked, you definitely weren't psionics. But you were unsure if you could actually share the truth with them, giving Mistress Yuga a sly glance, you found her flicking through folders. Trying your best at stealth you lean closer to smith and whisper softly to him. "Phobos Pilot."
He nodded, understanding and passing the message along to Suranovich. She shrugged, almost unimpressed. "Well like I said Morty, plenty of men stationed back on base are gonna be aiming to dethrone you. Maybe even from other projects." You nod, you hadn't even thought about that, how many other pilots would see Morty up there and aim to beat you. "So they ain't keeping any Psionics down there?" Suranovich added, interrupting your thoughts. "I don't think so…" The woman pouted, but eventually her smile returned. Kicking out both legs and stretching wide in her seat, an elbow bumping smith as she reaches for the stars. "Oh well, at least we are finally out of that bloody box. It might not be real leave but security detail is better than standing around in some empty corridor."
