As fast as they came they were killed. The numerous warriors from Drookian Fen Guard and the Katholics fired upon the incoming terrors from beyond with little error in their shots. Those who survived would have sworn it was like their guns were aiming themselves in this event and for it each of the men felt power beyond their reckoning.
Their shots were joined by the Imperial Fists that had stationed themselves around the ramparts of the forward fortification. Bolters sung that slammed into the body of the Chaos Daemon with impunity. Each rocket propelled bullet seemed to fade through the Daemons along with the las shots. It was however when the shots connected with the Daemons did they die a death greatly profound.
As they came greater pieces of ordinance were firing upon them. The limitless batteries that were built across the walls fired lopsided shells of mortar into the Daemons and many even striking a better hit than the Astartes. What rung loudest though was Particep Semper itself which released a torrent of Hellstorm Rounds into the advancing horde of damnation.
The bloodletters were the foremost front and also those who received most of the shots, but they were joined by the juggernauts and even a Bloodthirster that cried for the terror it held. Such a damning creature being thrown early would have been a massive blow to the one commanding the incoming hordes but the politics of Chaos were profound here. Khorn’s Daemons would not listen to a Champion of Slaanesh willingly.
The Juggernauts quickly caused the front lines to retreat and their positions to be quickly demolished with covering gun fire. Pieces of rockcrete that would have been nearly impossible to destroy from the front demolished as the Daemons came forward.
However just as the Daemons seemed to be gaining ground, the Bloodthirster who was leading them all was turned into a blazing sun. His body disintegrated as the still functioning Volcano Lances of Particep Semper destroyed them.
