“We keep a low profile and focus on recon for now.” you declared. “I’m still waiting on intel from one of our allies to confirm a few things.”
Like whether this is actually the Serpent Society you're dealing with. But you’ll keep that to yourself for now. Showing a lack of confidence or conviction now would agitate the others.
“As for the Silvertongue, I think we should wait until she’s alone before we attack. We can deal with the Society after we have her in custody.”
“And what are we supposed to do until then?” Luke asked. “In case you haven’t noticed, I’m not the best at sneaking around.” he said, gesturing to himself.
“Remain on standby. Me and the capture team will handle the recon.” you replied.
Luke folded his arms, Danny and Matt nodded, and Valkyrie seemed more than a little disappointed that she wouldn’t get to fight the creature anytime soon.
After that, you gave them the location of Madame Web’s mansion, in case of emergencies, and exchanged contact information with Luke and Danny.
Well, it was more like a general hotline for the “Heroes for Hire”. Danny didn’t really pay much attention to his phone, apparently.
As for Valkyrie, she neither owned a phone, nor did she know how to operate one. You actually had no idea how Marc had even contacted her in the first place. Hopefully, he’ll know how to reach her in case of an emergency.

At some point during the meeting, you had to step out to accept a call from the sewer phone. But to your surprise, it wasn’t Callisto that spoke when you answered. It was the signature gargling rasp of the Deep One!
“Hello, pretty thing. Did you miss me?” she said with a hungry growl that was probably meant to be a seductive purr.
“More than you know.” you said with a sigh of relief. “Are you alright? What’d you find out?”
“Well, it was more like something found me!” she said, sounding surprised even after the fact. “Something with teeth, claws and scales. Bigger than a sewer gator. Meaner too.”
Your heart rate quickened as you imagined the worst possible outcome. Did the Deep One get ambushed by Death Adder? Have they found out that you’re watching them?
“Are you sure you’re alright? Nothing followed you back?” you asked.
The Deep One let out a hiss that you recognized as the precursor to a chuckle. “Please. He might have ambushed me, but I’m the one that sent him packing. Gave him something to remember me by too.” she said, continuing her slightly slurred, hissing chuckle that was interrupted by a genuine pained hiss. “But, I uh…I think he had some sort of poison coating his claws. Fast-acting too. Could barely swim straight on the way back.”
